Move To New Site Complete
South Plainfield, New Jersey, USA
The staff at J-STAR Research
is pleased to announce our move to a new site. The new
laboratories occupy 6000 sq. ft. of space in South Plainfield,
New Jersey. The new site provides a pleasant, suburban
working environment within easy access to many restaurants
and shopping centers. Improved access and parking has
also been realized by our new site's proximity to major
highways (route 287, the GSP, the NJ Turnpike, route
22 and route 1). Please click

Included in the new space is a larger conference room
with video conferencing capabilities. Also on site is
a 300 MHz Varian NMR with access for all chemists. Construction
at the site is more than half complete. The site now
contains a main laboratory with six 8 ft. fume hoods.
A second smaller laboratory of 400 sq. ft. is isolated
for GMP work and houses one 8 ft. bench hood and an
8 ft. walk-in fume hood.
The custom designed fume hoods at J-STAR are extra deep
and high, permitting operations up to 22 liters to be
run inside the walk-in hood space. The hoods were fabricated
using materials normally found on laboratory bench tops,
completely inert to chemicals, and extremely sturdy.
The GMP laboratory contains equipment for larger operations
(up to 72 liters). In addition to the extra deep walk-in
fume hood, a 20 liter rotovap and a large capacity vacuum
oven (4.5 cu. ft.) make operations at the kilo-scale
possible.
The entire laboratory and each fume hood is supported
by centralized services with a chilled water system,
steam source, individual vacuum pumps, dry nitrogen,
and compressed air up to 100 psi.
Construction on the remaining space is slated for completion
by March 2000. This will add an additional seven bench
hoods and two walk-in fume hoods. A second isolated
GMP area is part of this new construction.
